As the software for the 3D models still is under development, there can be some errors in the data and the viewing of the model may occasionally be interrupted. Installation of plugin: Please follow this installation procedure for first-time viewing (Internet
Explorer):
1. Click in the Stavanger3D image on our web site; this starts a new browser
window and
takes you to the 3D model site.
2. Click the link Click_here to download the needed plug-in. Save the WinZip-file
on
your computer.
3. Unzip the file by right-clicking the saved file and choose Extract.
4. Double-click on the exe-file that is extracted. This starts the installation
procedure.
5. You will be prompted to close all running instances of Internet Explorer
(and Mozilla
Firefox) before the installation can continue.
6. After the installation program is finished, start a new Internet Explorer
window, revisit
our home page and click on the Stavanger3D image.
7. Depending on your security settings you may now be prompted to confirm to
run the
ActiveX Control you just installed. Run the ActiveX Control by clicking on
the yellow
pop-up bar at the top of the Internet Explorer window. Choose Add-on Disabled
and
Run ActiveX Control.
8. The next time you visit the 3D model you will be taken directly to the model
without any user intervention.
Hints for viewing speed:
As the browser continuously needs to download data while the user pans around
in the model,
from time to time you may have to wait for some data to be transferred. In
the lower left
corner of the browser window there is a progress indicator of the download
status. Let this
progress indicator reach 100% before you start to move around in the model.
System requirements:
The model is quite detailed so there are a lot of data to be processed. You
will get the best
viewing experience by having a computer with at least 2GB of RAM. You also
need to have a
graphics card that supports 3D functionality.
